Joyce Uggla is a senior technical writer and trainer in Silicon Valley. She is often involved with dancing and calling at BACDS events in and around the Palo Alto area.

[edit] Early life and education

Uggla was born and raised in St. Louis, MO. She moved to California to attend Stanford University, where she received her undergraduate degree in Biology and a Master’s degree in Education and Folk/Ethnic Dance. After teaching for three years, Joyce went to work in the high-tech/computer industry where she continues as a technical writer, editor, trainer, and manager.

Uggla lives with her husband Dave (a software engineer) in Los Altos. After their son was diagnosed with leukemia, the entire Uggla family became involved with the Touchstone Network which later merged with Parents Helping Parents (PHP). Uggla is the board secretary for PHP.[1] Touchstone supports families of children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses. Uggla is a singer — an alto for the local group Tres Gique. Her son Jordan also sings in the group.[2][3] Her other child is named Linnea, who recently got married.
