James Otterson

James Otterson owned a hotel on El Camino Real at California Avenue in 1852. The town of Mayfield (now Palo Alto) grew up around his hotel, commonly known as "Uncle Jim's Cabin." It was often patronized by travelers en route between San Francisco and San Jose and by lumbermen driving down from the hills.
