Happy Donuts is the only Palo Alto business that is open 24x7 and that tables to sit at. This is the place to go with your laptop any time of the day or night. Lots of Stanford students visit here. It has a nice bookshelf in the corner. A small chess group plays there on Friday nights. Their address is 3916 El Camino Real, Palo Alto, CA 94306-3318, Tel: 650-843-0658. There is a 3-D model of the building that you can view in Google Earth.

[edit] Previous ownership

This was owned and operated by young Cambodian couple of the name Nareth and Soley Ung. Nareth is a refugee from Cambodia. They sold the business in 2006. Their story of American success was written up in the Palo Alto Weekly. There was a second article which they have also framed: Vol XXV Number 11 Wednesday 5, 2003 (50 cents) Palo Alto After Dark: The Streets are alive after the lights go out by Nisha Ramachandra. [1] One of the Cambodian girls who used to work the cash register was raped and stabbed to death in San Jose. We miss her.

One can compare to Donut Wheel in Cupertino: http://www.wikimapia.org/289369/ and to the Happy Donuts in Redwood City.

[edit] People

Several notable people occasionally visit the Shop because of its convenience, including Scientology activist Gerry Armstrong, backgammon expert Elliot Winslow and comedian Drennon Davis, (occasional partner of Mary Van Note — here is an explanation of one facet of their œuvre ). Denny Petrosian is an occasional visitor.

[edit] Vendors

The shop uses an interesting array of vendors. They have a bublegum machine provided by this charitable org (some procedes go to research): http://www.varietync.org/

They have a Cross Mini-Bank 1000 ATM machine: http://www.ecscards.com/ps/misc/psmcmb1.html

They use a http://www.delfield.com/ refrigerator for their cheese and salad.
