Downtown Library

The Palo Alto Downtown Library is one of five Palo Alto libraries. It is one of the samller branches in the system, and therefore houses a limited number of volumes (18,828 total). It is located at 270 Forest Avenue, 94301. A Downtown Library librarian can be reached at 329-2436.
Hours (subject to change): Tues-Wed: 11-6; Thurs: 12-7; Fri-Sat: 11-6; Sun-Mon: Closed.

The library was built after the very first branch built in Palo Alto, the Carnegie Branch, was demolished to make room for City Hall.
In 1967, the branch was relocated to Ramona street, only to be relocated again to Forest Street (its current location) in 1971.
