Bob Moss
From Palo Alto Wiki
Bob Moss, a Barron Park resident since the early 1970s, has been active in local politics since his arrival. A professional engineer, specializing in metallurgy, Moss worked for Space Systems Loral, starting when it was Philco Ford.
Moss ran unsuccessfully for city council more than once. The Palo Alto Weekly failed to endorse his candidacy stating that Moss had more value as a citizen watchdog than as a council member. Moss has spoken out on everything from zoning issues to education to libraries.
Moss has served on several volunteer organizations over the decades, including the Cable Co-op Board, the Barron Park Neighborhood Association, and on the Save Hangar One committee.
Moss was born in Chicago, Illinois. He married his high school sweetheart, Harriet Kupperman, after they both graduated college. He served in the armed forces during the Korean War. He has five children and nine grandchildren. He eagerly awaits the arrival of great-grandchildren.
Moss has received several awards from local organizations and from the city council in recognition of his community activism. A fiscal conservative, social progressive, and ardent environmentalist, Moss has won wide support for his common sense approach to complex matters. He also has his share of critics, who find his often blunt and sometimes caustic speech too harsh. Moss is less interested in consensus-building than problem-solving as a general rule. He uses facts, data, and well-researched third-party reports as arsenal to support his causes.
